The consolidation of the French ministry of the Armed Forces in its role as manager of Natura 2000 sites is based on local experiments conducted jointly by the Conservancies of Natural Areas (CENs) and a number of military sites.
About ten pilot sites have volunteered to take part.

The Champagne camps
Cazaux 120 air base
Montmorillon manoeuvres camp
Romorantin-Pruniers DA 273 air detachment
