From 28 to 30 June 2016 in Nîmes, the conference dedicated to preservation of biodiversity military sites welcomed 150 participants and 17 different nationalities. We exchanged in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere (Program).

Participants returned home with ideas for concrete actions that could be realize to reconcile operational training with biodiversity preservation on military camps.

Day 1 :  "Biodiversity on French military camps : a management based on partnership"

The Day 1 focused on the French army’s environmental policy and on French initiatives. You will find the main points in the following document :

It was the opportunity to discover videos to present Life’s 4 experimental sites, done by Ministry of Defense.

This day ended with a Nîmes downtown visit, prepared by students from Mende’s BTS tourism. Presentation flyer is available here

Day 2 :  "The garrigues military camp : a training area with a high environmental value "

During this second day, french and foreign delegations gathered on Garrigues camp (Gard department), to discover biodiversity of this site, actions leaded to preserve it, to attend military exercices and military equipment presentation.

In the early evening, Franck Proust, Nîmes Mayor’s top deputy and european deputy, received all seminarists, accompanied by infantry music. 


Then this day ended in the Emmanuel d'Alzon Institut with a dance, led by Coriandre music group.

Day 3:  "Exchange and feedback at a European and international level"

During this third and last day, seminarists participated in workshops to exchange national, European and international experiences.

Day 4: Post-seminary land tour "Between Provence and Carmague" 

A dozen seminarists discovered natural and cultural heritage from Provence and Camargue.
